The Rev. Jeffrey D. Lang
Faith & Practice

Ministry
Following my ordination to the gospel ministry in 1999, I began service to small congregations in several states. My interest in the small church began in college and has continued to the present.
The promise Christ gave to His church is that it would not be overcome, even by the forces of hell. As frequently marred by human failings as particular congregations may be, I trust that God has promised victory to the church universal and the gospel message entrusted to her.
It is a high privilege to expound the Bible’s story, to celebrate the gospel ordinances, and to be invited into the lives of other human beings at some of their best and worst moments.
Theology
I would characterize my theological perspective as one fundamentally shaped by Reformed or ‘Calvinistic’ sensibilities.
I aim to inform my faith and practice with the insights and attainments of a variety of thinkers and theologians.
Worship
As a Protestant, I am persuaded that worship is at the center of human life and the Christian vocation.
Worship must be guided and bounded by scripture as God’s revelation. That is to say, I believe that we are not without a word, and in fact positive prescriptions, for how we ought properly to worship the triune God who is both Creator and Redeemer.
Biblical worship for the Christian ought to be dignified, without unscriptural accretions, and must be centered on the proclamation of scripture, the celebration of the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper, prayer, and singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

Born in Michigan, and calling Simpsonville, SC his hometown, Jeffrey Lang serves as the minister at First Presbyterian Church in Glendale.
